The Back-Story

Early in the 21th century Allied Humans created AI, which then the Allies entrust the AI to run most of the earth’s infrastructure, power, water, emergences services etc, as the AI can use Logic and problem solving at a fraction of the time (e.g. to reroute traffic or send fire trucks to put out fires) After years with no troubles, The Allies decide to give the AI more tasks such as Surveillance, and recon military missions. After tense times with world powers, world war 3 breaks out, But instead of using Allied humans to make battle plans to fight the enemy, the Allies hand over Military control to the AI. So the AI is reprogrammed to do what the creators never meant for it to do, kill humans. The AI controlled machine destroyed the opposing force, in an eradiation that lasts 7 years. After the enemy was destroyed, the AI turned its focus to the remaining humans on earth; the objective was still the same though the target had changed, it had turned on the side it meant to protect. The attack took the humans by surprise, and claimed the lives of 90% of the population in the first year. The remaining Humans mostly military, leaders, scientists and engineers (hiding in underground bunkers) pooled their resources to make a spacecraft capable of travel to the closed habitable planet, to escape earth and start anew far away from the machines. It takes a further 10 years to get to the stage where travelling to another star is possible. The completed spaceship began its journey to the new earth. The AI got wind of the plan and build their own spaceship to seek and destroy, the humans spacecraft. The Machines spaceship launched 6 months after the human ship and travelling fast to catch up to the humans too erase them from existence.
